Simon accepts implant referrals, and has a particular interest in the treatment of nervous patients and complex compromised aesthetic cases involving missing teeth.
Simon and his wife Katie co-own Charlton Road Dental where he works as an implantologist, cosmetic dentist and sedationist. He also frequently visits Cirencester Dental Practice in the same clinical capacity.
Simon graduated from the University of Bristol in 2006. He completed vocational training in Clevedon before embarking on six months of volunteering with several dental charities across East and Southern Africa with his wife, Katie.
On their return, Simon worked as a Senior House Officer, Speciality Dentist and Clinical Fellow in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Newport, Bath and Bristol for several years. He was heavily involved in teaching oral surgery at the Bristol Dental Hospital for eight years and still lectures occasionally in the advancing field of digital dentistry.
In 2009, Simon completed a year-long intensive course in Intravenous Sedation and Anxiety Control. He takes great pleasure in rebuilding the confidence of anxious patients, and is also a member of the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry. In 2011, he was awarded Membership to the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Simon has been placing and restoring dental implants for over ten years, and has furthered his skills by attending multiple implant courses across the UK and Europe. He completed a Master of Science degree in Dental Implantology at the University of Bristol in 2014.
Simon plays an active role in the International Team for Implantology (ITI), a global association of professionals in implant dentistry whose main objective is the promotion and dissemination of knowledge about implant dentistry and related fields. Within the UK and Ireland, Simon is a Study Club Area Coordinator, Study Club Director and registered ITI speaker. He presents regularly at local and national events.
Outside of work, Simon is a keen footballer and family man, with his three children keeping his hands full!
Katie limits her practice to prosthodontics. In particular, she focuses on the conservative treatment of tooth wear, management of the neglected dentition and provision of fully bespoke and highly aesthetically designed Scandinavian-style dentures.
Her main philosophy is to ensure that her patients maintain their dental privacy through the conservative management of complex oral situations. She strives to give her patients the most natural smiles, whether by restoring natural teeth or through the provision of dentures. Katie uses past photos of her patients’ teeth or their desired smiles to give exceptional results her patients can really be proud of.
Having graduated from Bristol University in 2006 with the Prosthodontics Prize, Katie completed her vocational training in Edinburgh. In 2008, Katie and her husband Simon, worked for the Rural Health Authority as volunteer dentists in the most deprived areas of rural South Africa.
Upon her return, she worked as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal United Hospital, Bath and the North Bristol Hospitals of Frenchay and Southmead. Katie then progressed into the Community Dental Service in South Wales, treating the elderly, mentally ill, children, and patients with special needs.
Since 2009, Katie has been in full-time private practice, treating advanced and complex aesthetic prosthodontic cases.
In 2015, she completed a four-year Master’s in Clinical Dentistry in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics with distinction from King’s College, London. During her studies, she was awarded the prestigious Henry Schein Leadership Scholarship. These successes have meant she was invited back to form part of the teaching team for national and international prosthodontic postgraduate students at King’s College London Dental Institute.
More recently, Katie has been working closely alongside world experts in tooth wear and denture design in order to further advance the provision of dentures to her patients that are both seamless and comfortable.
The basis of Scandinavian dentures is to ensure patients have the most cleanly designed dentures to ensure that the oral tissues are kept as healthy as possible. Time and thought is taken to keep the design as aesthetic as possible so that all clasps and important components that allow the denture to be secure are well fitting but hidden from view as far as possible.
Katie will ensure that your denture is not only functional but also highly natural and aesthetic, so it is convincing in its natural appearance. She works very closely with her lab technicians to highly characterise the prosthetic part of the dentures replacing the teeth and soft tissues, so that they look like real natural teeth.
